The bodies of a couple and their three daughters were discovered inside their locked residence in Meerut's Lisadi Gate area in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday night.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vipin Tada, who was present at the crime scene, said that Moin, his wife Asma, and their daughters — Afsa (8), Aziza (4), and Adiba (1) — were found dead.
The house was locked from outside, raising suspicions about the involvement of someone known to the family.
“The manner in which the house was locked suggests that the individual involved in the crime may have been someone known to the family,” SSP Tada stated.
Preliminary investigations indicate an old enmity as the possible motive behind the gruesome killings. Forensic experts and senior officers are examining the scene for further clues.
The couple had been reported missing since Wednesday, and it was Moin’s brother, Salim, who discovered the bodies. Disturbed by his brother's prolonged absence, Salim arrived at the house with his wife. Unable to open the door, they sought the help of neighbours and entered the house through the roof.
Inside, they found Moin and Asma’s bodies on the ground, while the children’s bodies were concealed in a bed box. Adding to the horror, one of the victims had their legs tied with a bedsheet.
The family had recently moved to the area, and police are delving into their background to uncover more details.
"A detailed investigation is underway," added SSP Tada.
