Family rules out any foul play in Delhi HC lawyer's suicide

The family members of the deceased were informed about his death in a Delhi hotel soon after the  incident came to light . However, as per their statement, no foul play is suspected in the matter, officials said. A police officer privy to the investigation said that a purported suicide note was also found, in which the advocate did not blame anyone.

As the investigation is underway in the alleged suicide by a young practcising lawyer of Delhi High Court, Police as also his family members have ruled out any possibility of foul play in the incident.

 

The family members of the deceased were informed about his death in a Delhi hotel soon after the  incident came to light . However, as per their statement, no foul play is suspected in the matter, officials said. A police officer privy to the investigation said that a purported suicide note was also found, in which the advocate did not blame anyone.

 

On Saturday night 26-year-old lawyer Rajesh Singh from the Delhi High Court allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the 15th floor of 'The Royal Plaza' hotel located in Connaught Place. Upon receiving information around 9:15 PM, the police arrived at the scene. He had checked into the hotel just a day earlier. In injured condition, he was immediately taken to Lady Hardinge Medical College, where doctors declared them dead.

 

 Teams from Crime and FSL have inspected the scene, and CCTV footage is being examined. Family members have stated that they suspect no conspiracy or foul play. Further legal proceedings are underway.A 26-year-old advocate practicing at the Delhi high court allegedly jumped to his death from the 15th-floor balcony of a hotel in New Delhi’s Connaught Place on Sunday evening, police said.Police said the deceased, a resident of Mahavir Enclave, also left behind a two-page suicide note in which he held nobody responsible for his death.

 

According to police, they were alerted to the incident at 9.15pm by hotel staff.Deputy commissioner of police (New Delhi) Sachin Sharma said, “A team led by the SHO of Connaught Place police station immediately reached the spot. Inquiry revealed that a man, aged about 26 years, had checked into the hotel around 6.30pm on Saturday and allegedly jumped from the 15th floor on Sunday evening. No foul play has been found so far.”

 

A crime and forensic team inspected the scene, and CCTV footage from the hotel premises is being examined, the DCP said.The body has been preserved for post-mortem examination, he said, adding that proceedings under relevant provisions of law are being carried out. Police said the deceased reached the 15th-floor balcony by cutting through a guard barrier, as the windows of his hotel room were sealed.
