On Republic Day, farmers from various organisations across Punjab held a tractor march to press the Union government on their long-standing demands, including a legal guarantee for MSP and the withdrawal of the National Policy Framework on Agriculture Marketing (NPFAM).
The key demands of the farmers include a legal guarantee for MSP based on the C2 plus 50 per cent formula from the Swaminathan Report, a debt waiver scheme for farmers and farm workers, no privatisation of electricity, and the withdrawal of the NPFAM.
The farmers also organised the tractor march in solidarity with farm leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on a hunger strike for 62 days to push for these demands.

The farmers' group, SKM, stated that to achieve these demands, a large-scale and determined nationwide struggle, even bigger than the historic 2020-21 farmers' protest at Delhi Borders, needs to be planned.
In Mohali, Lok Hit Mission-Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) took part in a 5-km march with around 100 tractors along the Baroudi-Kurali-New Chandigarh-Majri block route. Meanwhile, protesters in Mohali marched from Dardi village to the District Administrative Complex in Sector 76.
