Police in Borabanda have formally registered a case against Congress party workers, including Venkat Yadav, who is the brother of Jubilee Hills Congress candidate V Naveen Yadav, for allegedly threatening and obstructing Bharat Rashtra Samithi party members during their campaign for the Jubilee Hills by-election.
The action follows a complaint lodged by BRS party worker, Y Tarun Yadav, on October 30. He claims that when a group of BRS colleagues were canvassing in the Vikas Puri Colony area of Vengalraonagar, they were waylaid and threatened with severe consequences by Congress workers led by Venkat Yadav. The complaint suggests the criminal intent behind Venkat Yadav's actions was to prevent the BRS cadre from campaigning for their candidate, Maganti Sunitha.
Tarun Yadav further alleged that on two separate occasions, Naveen Yadav himself had threatened to “wipe out all the BRS workers.” The police have taken legal action, invoking Sections 352, 351(2), 351(3) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against those involved.
