An FIR has been registered against Bollywood actors Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda and three others following a complaint that a scene in their recently released film 'Jaat' allegedly hurts sentiments of the Christian community, according to the Police on Friday.
A Christian community leader in his complaint has alleged that the movie, released on April 10, features scenes that are disrespectful towards Jesus Christ and Christian religious practices.
Complainant Viklav Gold has also questioned the timing of the release of the film close to Good Friday which is being observed April 18 this year.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Jalandhar Cantt police station Sanjeev Kumar stated that the FIR was registered on Wednesday evening and actors Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda and Vineet Kumar, director Gopichand and producer Naveen had been named in the case.
The SHO further said the FIR was registered under Section 299 (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings.
The police are currently investigating the matter further.
