The Uttarakhand government has informed the High Court that an FIR has been registered in the Dehradun Municipal Corporation (MC) fake appointments case. The alleged scam is worth about Rs 80 crore and involves appointments made in the cleanliness committee between 2019 and 2024.
The government said the investigation was underway while replying to a PIL in the High Court.
The case is being heard by a division bench of Chief Justice G. Narendra and Justice Subhash Upadhyay, which has fixed the next hearing for November 10.
The PIL was filed by Dehradun resident Vikesh Negi. He alleged that several appointments were made in the municipal cleanliness committee between 2019 and 2024, but no records were found for 99 of them.
According to the petition, the inquiry revealed these appointments were fake, yet payments were still made in their names. Earlier, the court had directed the state government to submit its reply in the matter.
