A fire broke out early Saturday morning at the under-construction Sabarmati bullet train station, an official said.
The fire started around 6:30 am, but no one was injured, according to the fire department. Thirteen fire engines were sent to control the blaze, and firefighters managed to bring it under control.
The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), which is overseeing the project, stated that the fire broke out on the roof shuttering of a section of the site.
Initial reports suggest that sparks from welding work on the temporary shuttering may have caused the fire. However, the exact cause is still under investigation.
NHSRCL officials were present at the site to monitor the situation.
The Sabarmati station is part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, which spans 508 km. The project includes 12 stations across Gujarat and Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Thane, Surat, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad.
