Five labourers were injured in Dehradun on Monday after a city bus climbed onto a footpath near Lal Pul and hit them, police said.
The accident took place around 11 am. According to police, the bus was coming from the ISBT side when it went out of control and struck the labourers sitting on the pavement.
Preliminary inquiry suggests the driver may have suffered a sudden health problem, such as a fit or dizziness, causing him to lose control of the bus.
Patelnagar police station in-charge Vinod Gusain said the driver told police that he had felt dizzy, after which the vehicle mounted the footpath.
All five injured labourers, who are adults, were taken to Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital nearby. They are currently undergoing treatment, police said.
The bus was empty at the time of the accident. Police are still confirming the identities of the driver and the injured labourers. Further investigation is underway.
