Five rescued from Samba's flooded river in swift police operation

According to police, Police Station Samba received information that five individuals were stranded in the river due to the rapidly increasing water level. People were trapped due to sudden flooding in the river due to strong currents after which swift rescue operation was launched.


Five people trapped in the strong currents of the flooded Basantar River behind Police Station Samba were rescued safely by the Police personnel  following a swift rescue operation launched after a sudden rise in the river's water level on Saturday.

 

According to police, Police Station Samba received information that five individuals were stranded in the river due to the rapidly increasing water level. Acting immediately, Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station Samba, Inspector Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday, rushed to the spot with a police team and initiated a rescue operation.

 

Police officials said the timely intervention and effective coordination among supervisory officers and the rescue team ensured the safe evacuation of all those trapped in the river.The operation was carried out under the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba, Anuj Kumar (IPS), and under the supervision of the Additional Superintendent of Police, Samba, and the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), Samba, who remained at the scene to monitor the operation and coordinate the rescue efforts.

 

Despite strong currents and difficult conditions, the police team successfully rescued all five stranded persons without any reported injuries. The timely intervention prevented what authorities described as a potentially serious incident.

 

Police officials said the rescue was made possible through coordinated planning, prompt response, and teamwork among the officers deployed at the scene.

 

SSP Samba, Anuj Kumar, commended the efforts of the supervising officers, SHO Inspector Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday, and the police personnel involved in the operation for their prompt response and dedication, acknowledging their role in ensuring the safe rescue of all five individuals.

 

The incident highlights the importance of rapid emergency response during the ongoing monsoon season, when sudden increases in river water levels can pose significant risks. Authorities have advised the public to avoid entering or venturing close to swollen rivers and other water bodies during periods of heavy rainfall.
