Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has granted a free hand to security forces to neutralise militants involved in the attack that occurred on Sunday.
The militant attack left seven people dead, including a doctor and six non-local workers, in Gagangir, an area located near the famous tourist destination Sonamarg in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Sinha stated that those responsible for this despicable act will not go unpunished. The Ganderbal attack is the second most significant incident in J&K this year, following the Reasi attack that killed nine and injured 41 others.
So far, seven people have been confirmed dead, and five more are undergoing treatment for their injuries.
In a post on X, LG Sinha said, “I strongly condemn the heinous terrorist attack on civilians in Gagangeer. I assure the people that those behind this despicable act will not go unpunished. We have given full freedom to the J&K Police, Army, and Security forces. Our brave personnel are on the ground, and they will ensure terrorists pay a very heavy price for their actions. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. I am praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. The entire nation stands in solidarity with the families in this hour of grief,” he added.
