Foreign trip successful, 10 new firms to invest in TN: Stalin

Upon his arrival at the airport on Monday, where he was given a warm welcome by state ministers and officials, Chief Minister MK Stalin remarked that opposition parties were unable to tolerate his trip because he had secured such significant investments for the state.

"My one-week trip to Germany and the UK was satisfying and it was a victorious trip leading to attracting ₹15,516 crore investment that would provide jobs to 17,613 people," said CM MK Stalin.

During his recent trip to Europe, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced on Monday that the state had signed agreements with 23 companies, securing investment commitments of ₹15,516 crore and potentially creating 17,613 jobs.

The Hinduja Group, based in the UK, will invest ₹7,500 crore in Tamil Nadu’s EV ecosystem for battery storage systems, an initiative expected to create over 1,000 jobs. Additionally, AstraZeneca announced a strategic investment of ₹176 crore to expand its Global Innovation and Technological Centre in Chennai. Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were also signed with Knorr-Bremse, Nordex Group, and ebm-papst during the 'TN Rising' event in Germany.

Stalin said that ten new companies have committed to collaborative ventures in Tamil Nadu, while 17 other firms have decided to expand their existing operations. Upon his arrival at the airport, where he was given a warm welcome by state ministers and officials, the Chief Minister remarked that opposition parties were unable to tolerate his trip because he had secured such significant investments for the state.

"My one-week trip to Germany and the UK was satisfying and it was a victorious trip leading to attracting ₹15,516 crore investment that would provide jobs to 17,613 people," he told reporters. "Totally, 33 MoUs were signed. My foreign trip has been a huge success."

Stalin noted that the state's vibrant industrial climate had encouraged the 17 firms to expand in Tamil Nadu rather than move to other states.

Responding to criticism from AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, the Chief Minister stated that after his detailed presentation in Germany, many investors expressed that they now realised the immense potential Tamil Nadu holds for investment and industrial ventures. He justified his foreign travel by saying such visits are essential to encourage firms to start new projects and expansion programmes in Tamil Nadu.

"Similar to the Investors Summit held in Tuticorin, we will soon hold a similar event in Hosur, where I would be inaugurating the ₹2,000 crore Delta Electronics factory and township for its employees, besides laying foundation stones for ₹1,100 crore new units on 11 September," Stalin said.

On a personal note, he said the trip was memorable and unforgettable as he unveiled a portrait of rationalist leader ‘Periyar’ EV Ramasamy at Oxford University.

When asked about senior AIADMK leader KA Sengottaiyan giving his party leader an ultimatum to unite the factional leaders, which led to him being stripped of his party posts, Stalin retorted, “Here, we are talking about constructive issues, and you are asking provocative questions.” To another question, he replied, “We are making a silent revolution, despite the financial crunch thrust by the Centre. No matter how much they ignore us, we are striving hard to occupy the top position.”

Stalin also praised Industries Minister TRB Rajaa and other officials for their efforts in securing the agreements.
