Four people lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Kaithal district on Monday morning. Several others were seriously injured.
The accident happened near Kyodak village when a speeding car collided head-on with a Haryana Roadways bus. The victims, residents of Bathinda in Punjab, were on their way to pay obeisance at the historic Gurdwara Sahib in Pehowa, Kurukshetra.
The crash was so severe that the car’s front was completely crushed and overturned on the roadside. Locals rushed to help and called the police. The bodies had to be taken out with the help of a crane and gas cutter.
The police confirmed that four people in the car died on the spot. The injured were shifted to a private hospital in Kaithal, where their condition is said to be critical. Bus passengers received only minor injuries and are safe.
Residents of Kyodak village called the stretch an “accident-prone zone.” They said overspeeding has caused many mishaps here earlier too and urged the administration to install speed breakers and take safety measures to avert such incidents in the future.
