Punjab Police on Saturday said it has arrested four members of a gang allegedly involved in extortion and firing incidents.
The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police also seized three pistols and several live cartridges from the accused, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said in a post on X.
According to the initial investigation, the accused were working on the instructions of handlers based abroad. They were allegedly involved in planning and carrying out multiple firing incidents in Jalandhar and SBS Nagar districts, the DGP said.
Police have registered a case at Bhargo Camp police station in Jalandhar.
Further investigation is underway to trace the network’s links and identify other people connected to the gang, Yadav added.
