Four people were injured after a minibus skidded off the road near Chaktroo in Poonch district on Thursday.
Officials said that the minibus, bearing registration number JK12-1245, skidded off the road due to unknown reasons. All four people on board were injured.
Those injured in the accident were quickly rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Their condition was said to be stable. Those injured are residents of Trichal, Sathra, and Mandi, along with the driver of the minibus.
The injured have been identified as Mehboob Ahmed (30), son of Mohd Saleem, driver of the vehicle; RuksanaKouser (35), wife of Tariq Khan, resident of Trichal; Mohd Hanief (45), son of Mohd Din, resident of Sathra; and Mohd Tariq (20), son of Mohd Shoker, resident of Mandi, who was working as the conductor.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
Although several deadly fatal road accidents were reported in various districts of the Jammu division in 2025, official figures show a 15 per cent reduction in accidents and a 22 per cent decline in fatalities in rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir compared to 2024.
