At least four Maoists were killed, and two were arrested in an encounter between security forces and CPI (Maoist) rebels in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district on Monday.
Officials stated that the Maoists suffered heavy losses in the encounter, which started on Monday morning in the forest area near Guwa police station.
During the encounter, security forces eliminated four Maoists and apprehended two others. Weapons and other materials were recovered along with the bodies of the Maoists from the encounter site.
Reports indicate that security force personnel were on a search operation in the Guwa forest area when Maoists, lying in ambush, opened fire indiscriminately. In the exchange of fire, security forces killed four Naxalites.
Currently, the search operation is ongoing in the area, with reports of some Naxalites sustaining injuries.
Ashutosh Shekhar, Superintendent of Police, West Singhbhum, stated that during Monday morning's search operation, an encounter occurred between security forces and Maoists, resulting in the death of four rebels.
The deceased Maoists include a zonal commander, a sub-zonal commander, an area commander, and a male and female Naxalite. Two Maoists, including an area commander and a hardcore female Maoist rebel, were reported injured.
The Saranda forest area in West Singhbhum district is a hotbed of Maoist activities, where security forces are continuously conducting search operations.
Security forces had previously recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition in the area on June 10, including MLGs, SLRs, pistols, and a pile of bullets, along with other items.
