Four Naxalites, one of whom was reportedly involved in activating an IED blast on a police official's car last year, were apprehended from Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police informed on Wednesday. The quartet, who had a bounty of ₹10,000 each on their head, was detained from their home village Kopanjharri under Farsegarh police station jurisdiction by a group of policemen, a police release stated.
The cadres were named as Mando Kursam (30), Kailash Kursam (30), Pandu Kursam (30) and Chhote Kursam (21), all working as jan militia members of Maoists, the statement claimed. Kursam was reportedly responsible for triggering an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in the car two policemen were riding in Farsegarh area on May 15 last year, it added.
Farsegarh police station house officer Akash Masih and constable Sanjay, who were inside the car, had managed to escape unscathed, but the explosion damaged the bonnet of the vehicle.

The other cadres had torch-bridged an earth mover machine, truck and tractor on December 15, 2020 in the locality, it added.
Jan militia members are low-level cadres who are primarily responsible for propagating Maoist ideology, erecting banners and posters, providing commodities of everyday use and ration to their upper-level colleagues.
