The fourth batch of the Amarnath Yatra pilgrims left Jammu’s Bhagwati Nagar base camp in the early morning hours on Sunday under extensive security arrangements. The Yatra, which started on Friday, has continued smoothly in the Kashmir Valley after the first and second batches headed to the base camps in Pahalgam and Baltal.
According to the Zonal Police Control Room (ZPCR), Jammu, a total of 6,721 pilgrims departed in a convoy of 291 vehicles towards the twin base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam.
The first convoy left the base camp at 3.15 am, while the second convoy left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp at 3.45 am.
The fourth batch comprises 4,576 male pilgrims, 1,310 female pilgrims, 572 sadhus, 154 sadhvis, 22 children, 38 foreign male pilgrims, and 49 foreign female pilgrims.
The pilgrims are travelling in 134 buses, 37 medium motor vehicles (MMVs), and 120 light motor vehicles (LMVs).
After entering the Ramban district via the Nashri Tunnel, the Baltal-bound pilgrims are scheduled to stop at Lambar Ground in Banihal, where breakfast and other basic facilities have been arranged.
Meanwhile, pilgrims travelling towards the Pahalgam route will stop at the Chanderkoot Langar sites in Ramban for breakfast before continuing their onward journey to south Kashmir.
The administration has made all necessary arrangements, including health, medical, and convenience facilities, to ensure the smooth conduct of the Yatra. The pilgrimage began on Thursday. Authorities expect a massive rush this year, with improved facilities and security arrangements.
