A fresh batch of 1,795 Amarnath pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu for Kashmir under tight security measures on Thursday morning, officials said. As per the Joint Police Control Room (JPCR), Jammu, the 23rd batch departed at 2:44 a.m. in a convoy of 83 vehicles, including 41 buses, 11 medium motor vehicles (MMVs), 30 light motor vehicles (LMVs), and one two-wheeler.
The fresh batch consisted of 1,406 male devotees and 389 female devotees who started their journey towards the Baltal base camp, with yatra-related facilities still suspended on the Pahalgam route.
Officials on Thursday confirmed that the convoy was heading towards its destination under stringent security, with security vehicles and an ambulance accompanying the pilgrims.
With the departure of the latest convoy, the total number of those who have left the Jammu base camp for the 2026 Amarnath Yatra has climbed to 134,201, officials said.
However, the previous batch that performed darshan on Wednesday has departed the base camp for Jammu today.
According to the Joint Police Control Room, Baltal, the return convoy comprised 1,413 male pilgrims, 392 female pilgrims, 12 children, 97 sadhus and 29 sadhvis.
The pilgrims were travelling in 63 vehicles, including 40 heavy motor vehicles (HMVs), 11 medium motor vehicles (MMVs), and 12 light motor vehicles (LMVs) under adequate security arrangements.
