A fresh batch of over 3,000 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu on Tuesday for the Baltal base camp under stringent security measures, officials said.
According to the Joint Police Control Room, the 21st batch departed at 2:45 am in a convoy of 151 vehicles, including 57 buses, 30 medium motor vehicles (MMVs), 58 light motor vehicles (LMVs), and six two-wheelers.
The batch included 2,310 male pilgrims, 590 women, 14 children, 45 sadhus, 40 sadhvis, and 30 foreign male pilgrims. No fresh convoy was scheduled for the Pahalgam axis.
Officials said the convoy was proceeding towards the Baltal base camp under tight security arrangements.
Since the start of the Yatra, over 130,000 Yatris have left the Jammu base for darshan, the majority of whom have already paid obeisance at the cave shrine.
LG Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of the Yatra on July 2, urging people from across the country to undertake the pilgrimage.
It is worth mentioning that over four lakh people have visited the cave shrine so far, a number expected to grow further after the Yatra remained suspended for six days due to adverse weather conditions.
The Yatra has entered its final leg and will conclude next month.
