Fresh bomb threat wave targets over 20 Delhi schools

Over 20 schools in Delhi received bomb threats via email, prompting mass evacuations. No explosives were found, but police are tracing the source of the threatening messages.

News Arena Network - New Delhi - UPDATED: July 18, 2025, 09:18 AM - 2 min read

Delhi Police personnel and bomb disposal squads stationed outside The Mother's Mary School after a threat email triggered evacuations and security sweeps across more than 20 schools in the capital.

More than 20 schools across Delhi received bomb threats via email on Friday morning, prompting mass evacuations and large-scale security sweeps. The emails, sent to institutions in areas such as Paschim Vihar, Dwarka, Vasant Kunj and Hauz Khas, warned of explosives hidden in classrooms and included chilling messages expressing suicidal intent and resentment towards society.

The latest wave of threats, including a chilling message referencing multiple hidden explosives and suicidal intent, has gripped educational institutions across several parts of Delhi. A number of schools, including Richmond Global School, St. Thomas School, Vasant Valley School, The Mother’s International School and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, were among those affected.

“Hello. I am writing to let you know that I have placed several explosive devices (trinitrotoluene) within school classrooms. The explosives are skilfully hidden, in black plastic bags. I will erase every last one of you from this world. Not a single soul will survive. I will gladly laugh when I will watch the news, only to see the parents show up at the school and to be greeted by the cold, dismembered bodies of their children,” read the threat email received by multiple schools.

It continued with disturbing references to mental illness, resentment toward psychiatric treatment, and a pledge to take the sender’s own life following the attack. “You all deserve to suffer. I truly hate my life, I will commit suicide after the news, will slit my throat and slit my wrists. I was never truly helped, psychiatrists, psychologists, no one has ever cared and no one will ever care. You only care about medicating the helpless and clueless humans… You all deserve this. You deserve to suffer just like me.”

Delhi Police and the Department of Fire Services responded promptly to emergency calls, dispatching bomb detection squads, dog squads and multiple fire tenders to each location. All school premises were cordoned off and sanitised. No explosive devices have been found so far.

“The locations were evacuated, and the Delhi Police Bomb Squad, Dog Squad, Delhi Fire Brigade team, and Special Staff team are on the spot. It was cordoned off, and a thorough anti-sabotage check is being conducted. So far, nothing suspicious has been found,” a senior police officer confirmed.

On Wednesday, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya issued a notice informing parents that the school would remain closed following police advice. “Due to a potential bomb threat received this morning, and as advised by the police, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya will remain closed today, 16th July, 2025. A Bomb Disposal Squad is conducting a full sanitisation of the premises. We will keep you updated,” the school’s official communication said.

This follows a series of similar threats earlier in the week. Two schools in Chanakyapuri and Dwarka had received email threats on Monday, prompting brief lockdowns and evacuations. Last month, St. Stephen’s College at Delhi University had also received an email claiming a bomb had been planted in the library, though no device was found following a complete sweep of the premises.

Officials suspect the emails may be the work of a single disturbed individual or a coordinated hoax campaign designed to cause panic and disrupt the school system. Investigators are tracing the IP addresses and digital fingerprints associated with the emails to determine their source.

The Delhi Police have urged the public to remain calm while confirming that no other colleges have reported similar threats since the latest wave began. However, authorities remain on high alert, particularly in sensitive zones and large educational campuses.

Schools are expected to resume operations only after receiving clearance from bomb disposal and security teams. In the meantime, parents have been asked to await official communication from school administrations and not respond to social media speculation.

This is the second coordinated threat to Delhi schools in less than a week, renewing concerns over safety in the city’s educational institutions.
