The Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted fresh snowfall over the higher reaches across most of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. Conditions across the rest of Jammu and Kashmir are likely to remain dry for the next several days.
According to the MeT forecast, generally dry weather is expected across the Union Territory (UT) on October 17, 19, and 20.
The weather may turn partly cloudy to generally cloudy during the afternoon and evening hours from October 18 to 21.
However, on October 21, there is a possibility of a brief spell of very light snow over isolated higher reaches of north Kashmir, the forecast said.
Weather is likely to remain partly to generally cloudy with dry conditions from October 22 to 23, while another brief spell of light snow over isolated higher reaches of north Kashmir is possible on October 24.
The period from October 25 to 26 is expected to remain dry in the UT. Meanwhile, minimum temperatures across most parts of Jammu and Kashmir stayed above normal.
According to MeT data, temperatures in the Kashmir division were recorded 1–3 degrees Celsius above normal, while in the Jammu division, they were 0–2 degrees Celsius higher than the seasonal average.
The pattern change was also noticed across the popular hill stations, including Gulmarg and Pahalgam, where the temperature was recorded a few degrees above the usual normal.
South Kashmir’s Anantnag district recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the Valley at 3.8 degrees Celsius, while Banihal registered the lowest in the Jammu region at 6.7 degrees Celsius.
