Notorious gangster Lovish Grover, a 25-year-old resident of Ludhiana, was arrested late Friday night following a brief but intense shootout with the police at a housing society in Zirakpur, Mohali.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Zirakpur SHO Inspector Jaskawal Singh launched a raid at Shiva Enclave on VIP Road around 9:15 pm.
According to Mohali Rural SP Manpreet Singh, intelligence reports indicated that Grover was hiding in a third-floor flat and was allegedly planning a major crime. When officers knocked on the door, he initially opened it but quickly attempted to shut it upon realizing the presence of the police.
As the officers forced entry, he retreated into a room and opened fire on them. The police responded swiftly, shooting him in the leg before overpowering and arresting him.
A subsequent search of the flat uncovered a cache of weapons, including a Glock pistol, a rifle, and a .30 bore pistol, along with a significant quantity of ammunition.
Grover has a long criminal history, with multiple cases registered against him, including charges of murder, attempted murder, and violations under the Arms Act. Further investigations are ongoing to determine his recent activities and possible connections to other criminal networks.
