Karnataka High Court grants bail to three out of 17 accused in Gauri Lankesh murder case.

The Karnataka High Court has granted bail to three accused arrested in connection with the murder of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh.

Justice S Vishwajith Shetty granted bail to Amit Digvekar, HL Suresh and KT Naveen Kumar.

Citing delay in the trial, the trio had sought bail.

In December last year, the court had granted bail to another accused N Mohan Nayak.

The accused relied on the fact that their co-accused Mohan Nayak, an alleged associate of the right-wing Sanatan Sanstha, was granted bail in December 2023. They also argued that there had been an excessive delay during the trial.

The Karnataka High Court has granted bail to three of the 17 people accused in the murder of journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh, 55, who was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne gunmen on September 5, 2017.

Gauri Lankesh, an outspoken critic of Hindutva groups, was shot dead on September 5, 2017 outside her house in Bengaluru.
