Ghosh censures TMC, denies plans to divide West Bengal

Senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh criticised the TMC for obstructing north Bengal's development, denying any plans to divide West Bengal and urging the public to recognise divisive political tactics.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dilip Ghosh has vehemently criticised the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) for its allegations against the BJP regarding attempts to divide West Bengal.

Speaking outside the assembly on Thursday, Ghosh asserted that the BJP has never advocated for the bifurcation of the state, nor does it have plans to do so.

Ghosh's remarks come in response to the TMC's decision to introduce a resolution and motion in the state assembly aimed at opposing any purported attempts to fragment the state.

He accused the TMC of obstructing development in the northern districts of West Bengal, referencing a comprehensive development blueprint proposed by BJP's Bengal president and Balurghat MP, Sukanta Majumdar.

"The BJP has never proposed dividing West Bengal, nor is it included in any of our manifestos. Our founder, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, played a pivotal role in the formation of West Bengal, and we cherish our state just like everyone else," Ghosh stated.

He further alleged that the TMC is engaging in divisive politics for electoral gain, urging the people of Bengal to recognize those who exploit division as a political tool.

Ghosh maintained that the TMC has misled the people of north Bengal and expressed opposition to its development, despite Majumdar outlining a clear development plan for the region.

Highlighting the TMC's initiatives, Ghosh censured the establishment of the North Bengal Development Department and ‘Uttar Kanya’, as well as the formation of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA), arguing that these measures have failed to improve conditions in the region.

In a lighter vein, Ghosh mentioned that his visit to the assembly was not solely political; he also intended to celebrate his 60th birthday with party MLAs and media associates.
