The Goa cabinet has approved seven development projects, collectively valued at ₹2,500 crore, to be undertaken on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis.
Following the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told reporters that the PPP model was chosen to ensure the projects are completed more quickly and without direct investment from the state’s coffers.
The approved projects include the redevelopment of the Junta House and Circuit House buildings in Panaji, the construction of a new Prashasan Stambh and new government quarters at St Inez, as well as the reconstruction of a government garage. The list also includes the construction of a new bus stand for the Kadamba Transport Corporation in Vasco.
The Chief Minister confirmed that the public sector firm NBCC (National Buildings Construction Corporation) will take on the projects, with work set to begin within the next 10 to 15 days. Sawant said that had the government undertaken these projects on its own, it would have had to spend at least ₹2,500 crore.
