Panic has gripped Bokakhat in Assam's Golaghat district after a tiger was spotted roaming freely in the area, raising concerns among local residents. Despite the alarming presence, no attacks or fatalities have been reported thus far.

 

In response to the sighting, District Magistrate Dr. P. Uday Praveen, has enforced Section 144 of the CrPC, prohibiting the movement of individuals in and around the affected areas as a precautionary measure.

 

Residents of Ahomgaon, Barigaon, and Sukanigaon have been given strict orders to remain indoors unless an emergency arises. Meanwhile, authorities are actively searching for the tiger to ensure the safety of the community.

 

The tiger's current whereabouts remain uncertain, and it is unclear whether it has returned to the forest.

 

This incident highlights the proximity of Kaziranga National Park, home to two-thirds of the world's population of Indian One-Horned Rhinoceros, and also known for its significant population of Indian Tigers.

 

Kaziranga's tigers are renowned for their size and hunting prowess. A full-grown Indian Tiger from Kaziranga can measure up to 11 feet in length and weigh up to 700 pounds.

 

These magnificent creatures possess an athletic build, enabling them to move swiftly and hunt effectively. Both male and female tigers are skilled hunters, contributing to the park's reputation for wildlife excellence.
