The crash, which occurred earlier this month near Lal Bahadur Shastri College, was captured on camera. According to Delhi Police, the Scorpio rammed into a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction before colliding with a parked taxi. The biker, Sahil Dhaneshra, died at the scene, while the taxi driver was hospitalised.

The father of the teenager accused of killing a 23-year-old biker in Delhi has apologised for the "grave mistake," stating that his family is in absolute shock and deeply ashamed.

Speaking to the media, the father explained that he was away in Gorakhpur for work when his son took the car keys out of "naivety." "Had I been in Delhi, this incident probably wouldn't have happened," he said, noting that his wife was at home at the time.

While acknowledging his son was driving without a licence, the father claimed the teenager did not flee the scene, asserting that he advised his family to ensure the injured were taken to hospital once he heard the news.

Addressing claims that the SUV had several outstanding fines, the father stated that since they run a commercial business, the vehicle is primarily driven by chauffeurs. He also sent a message to the victim’s mother, Inna Makan, pleading for forgiveness and stating he would spend his life seeking her pardon.

The accused teenager was sent to an observation home by the Juvenile Justice Board but was granted interim relief on Tuesday to sit for his Class 10 board examinations.

Makan, a single parent, has alleged that the 17-year-old was out with his sister filming social media reels at the time. "The speed is clearly visible in the reels," she told the media. "He was driving in the wrong lane and performing a stunt."

The accused's older brother echoed these concerns, admitting the teenager was speeding and driving without a valid licence, though he concurred with his father that his sibling did not run away following the collision.
