Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel made a final push on Saturday, calling on citizens across the state to aim for a 100 per cent turnout in Sunday’s local body elections. Describing the upcoming vote as a "sacred festival of democracy," the Chief Minister emphasised that every single ballot plays a crucial role in maintaining the momentum of development, whether in small villages or major cities.

The scale of the exercise is significant; more than 4.18 crore voters are eligible to head to the polls on April 26 to elect 9,992 local representatives. The elections will take place across an extensive geographic area which consists of 15 city corporations, 84 towns, 34 district panchayats, and 260 taluka panchayats.

The polling centers are scheduled to open their gates from 7 am to 6 pm, while the results are expected to be declared after counting on April 28. In his address, Patel urged voters not just to participate themselves, but to actively encourage their friends, neighbours, and family members to do the same. He also offered a particular word of encouragement to those voting for the first time, welcoming them into the democratic process and highlighting the "invaluable" nature of their contribution to the state's future.
