Security forces said on Friday that a fresh exchange of firing had taken place between their troops and terrorists likely to be linked to an IAF convoy attack at Sinai Top in the Poonch region.
The attack on May 4 in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district resulted in the death of one Air Force corporal and injuries to four others.
Soon after the ambush, a massive search operation was launched in multiple districts to track down the terrorists involved in the attack.
According to the latest updates, exchange of fire between the terrorists and security forces were reported in the region on Friday, officials said.
The latest developments suggest it’s the same group of terrorists who attacked an Air Force vehicle on May 5, killing Vikky Pahade and injuring four other air warriors, officials added.
Since May 5, security personnel have been conducting operations in the Poonch and Rajouri districts to track down the men suspected to be the attackers.
Security forces believe that this terrorist group is operating in densely covered forest areas.
The police also published sketches of two terrorists thought to be responsible for the attack on the Air Force vehicles.
Security forces also published images of three more terrorists acquired from CCTV camera footage.
Sources said the three terrorists responsible for the attack also feature on the forces’ list of the top most wanted terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
