Jalandhar was on edge this weekend after gunshots were fired outside a doctor's residence in the Mota Singh Nagar locality on Saturday evening— the second such attack in the city in less than 24 hours.
The latest incident occurred around 9:45 pm, targeting the home of the owner of Vardaan Hospital. Witnesses reported seeing a lone gunman arrive on a motorbike before opening fire. Of the four shots discharged, two struck the main gate of the property.
This follows a remarkably similar attack in the early hours of Saturday morning, where seven to eight rounds were fired outside the house of a local veterinarian in the Santokhpura area.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Manpreet Dhillon, who arrived at the scene of the second shooting, confirmed that an investigation is underway. "A man on a bike fired at the doctor’s house. We have registered an FIR and are currently tracing the suspect," he said.
The back-to-back nature of the shootings has sparked serious concerns over law and order in the city, with police now checking CCTV footage from both localities to determine if the two incidents are linked.
