Members of the Kashmiri Pandit community in Gurugram, on the outskirts of the national capital, New Delhi, organised a blood donation camp on Monday to pay respects to the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur on his 350th martyrdom anniversary.

The Indian Red Cross Society sent a team to the venue to collect blood from the donors during the live donation camp.

Additionally, a team of health experts from Artemis Hospital, Gurugram, conducted a free medical check-up and awareness programme as part of the event.

Besides, pilgrims from the nearby Bani Mandir Gaushala also joined the gathering to pay tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur and commemorate Sikh martyrs Bhai Sati Das, Bhai Dayala, and Bhai Mati Das, who sacrificed their lives alongside the Guru.

Participants said Kushal Singh Dahiya, who has long been overlooked for decades, also deserves recognition for his supreme sacrifice, and his role must be brought into public attention and discussed openly.

His contributions must be highlighted for the younger generations, for high–stature figures like him are woven into the very heartbeat of the nation.

Guru Tegh Bahadur attained martyrdom in 1675 while protecting dharma. Speakers said his contribution and will to sacrifice his life for dharma remain relevant in light of recent attacks in Chandni Chowk.

Prominent figures of the Pandit community, along with social, political, and religious activists, were also present at the event.

Speakers included the president of All India Kashmiri Samaj, Ravinder Pandita; a renowned commentator and prominent pro-Kashmiri Pandit voice, Sushil Pandit; Dr Raj Nehru; and Amit Raina.

Activist Amita Pathak, representatives of Durga Vahini, and Ajay Pandita and Pankaj Dhar from the Haryana unit of the Kashmiri Hindu Cell were also present.

Speakers from the Pandit community praised the sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur and his historical connection with the Kashmiri Pandit community.
