A 27-year-old woman employed with an IT company in Gurugram was found dead under suspicious conditions at a homestay on the Mussoorie-Dhanolti road, police said on Tuesday.

The woman was identified as P Radha Gayatri, a resident of Delhi's Kidwai Nagar East area.

Police said Gayatri had reached Kiana Homestay in Tipridhar late on Sunday night along with her husband, Soumya Sricharan, who works in the IT sector in Pune. On Monday morning, Mussoorie police received a call about a woman who was not responding at the homestay.

An ambulance team was immediately sent to the spot. After examination, the woman was declared dead by the medical staff accompanying the ambulance.

During the initial investigation, police found that the couple had travelled from Delhi to Rishikesh on June 13. They later checked into a room called "Bliss" at the homestay around 11.30 pm the following night.

Sricharan told the police that they consumed alcohol before going to bed at around 3.30 am. He told investigators that when he woke up the next morning, he found his wife lying unresponsive. He also claimed there was urine on the floor and blood coming from her nose.

Police said the couple got married on November 8, 2025. Both were originally from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

In a statement, police said the woman's body was found on the floor without clothes. Bloodstains were noticed on the bedsheet, while two empty liquor bottles and some food items were recovered from the room.

The body was shifted to Coronation Hospital in Dehradun for a post-mortem examination.

Police have requested that the autopsy be conducted by a panel of doctors and that the entire procedure be videographed. Circle Officer Manoj Aswal said Gayatri's family had been informed about the incident. Her parents were expected to reach from Visakhapatnam late on Tuesday.

"We have sent the body for post-mortem. The exact cause of death will be known only after the report is received," Aswal said.
