Gurugram police nab duo for sending "objectionable msgs" on fake instagram account

Two individuals, including a minor, were apprehended by the Gurugram Police for allegedly creating a fake Instagram profile and harassing a complainant's family and acquaintances with "objectionable messages," officials confirmed.

 

The accused reportedly established a fake account bearing the complainant's sister's name and photograph. This account was then used to transmit offensive messages to the complainant's family, relatives, and other associates.

 

On January 14th, the victim approached the Cyber Crime (West) Police Station, Gurugram, and lodged a formal complaint detailing the harassment.

 

Following an investigation, the Cyber Police successfully apprehended both accused on Thursday.

 

The primary suspect, identified as 48-year-old Nijakat Ali from Maruti Kunj, Bhondsi, is currently undergoing interrogation after being remanded for one day.

 

As per legal procedures, the juvenile suspect was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and subsequently sent to a shelter home.

 

Authorities confiscated a mobile phone and a SIM card believed to be instrumental in the crime.

 

Police Spokesperson Subhash Boken provided an official statement confirming the arrests and ongoing investigation. 

 

He stated, "We have obtained a one-day remand for the main accused and are conducting further inquiries. Additionally, a mobile phone and a SIM card related to the offence have been recovered."
