Renowned Sufi singer and former BJP Member of Parliament Hans Raj Hans has suffered a personal loss with the passing of his wife, Resham Kaur, at the age of 62.
She succumbed to a prolonged heart-related illness on Wednesday afternoon at Tagore Hospital in Jalandhar, where she had been undergoing treatment.
Resham Kaur had been battling heart complications for an extended period. She was admitted to the hospital five days ago, during which she underwent a stent procedure. Despite medical efforts, her condition did not improve, and she breathed her last earlier today.
Her demise has left the Hans family and their close circle in profound grief. Relatives, friends, and well-wishers have gathered at their residence to offer condolences and support during this difficult time. The loss is particularly poignant as it comes just 16 days before what would have been Hans Raj Hans and Resham Kaur’s wedding anniversary on April 18.
Apart from being a pillar of strength for her family, Resham Kaur also shared a connection with the music industry through her familial ties. Her son, Navraj Hans, is married to Bollywood singer Daler Mehndi’s daughter, Ajit Kaur, further intertwining the two renowned musical families.
Her brother, Paramjit Singh, confirmed the tragic news and stated that her last rites will be performed on Thursday at 11 a.m. in Hans Raj Hans’ ancestral village, Shafipur.
