In a spectacle that left onlookers stunned, a video has emerged from Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, showing seven people crammed onto a single motorcycle.
Among them, a little girl is seen precariously perched on the shoulders of one of the pillion riders.
The 10-second clip, which has rapidly gained traction on social media, was captured by a fellow biker trailing the overloaded two-wheeler. The person filming can be heard asking, "Where are you all going?" To which a young boy on the bike responds, "Hajipur."
The viral video prompted swift action from Hapur police, who issued a hefty fine of ₹9,500. The police shared their prompt response on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "In Hapur district, a video of a bike carrying more passengers than its capacity went viral on social media. The traffic police took immediate cognizance of the same and issued a challan for the said bike (totalling ₹9,500)."
The incident drew widespread applause on social media, with users commending the police for their decisive action. One user remarked, "Very good work by Hapur police, salute to you."
Another commented, "Great work brother. There should have been an even heavier challan." A third suggested, "A case should also be registered for negligence and careless action and for endangering human life."
This is not the first such incident in Hapur. In August last year, a similar video featuring seven individuals on a motorbike sparked a heated debate online. Following its virality, the culprits were apprehended, and a substantial fine of ₹22,000 was imposed.
