Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday announced that yoga camps will be organised across the state from June 1 to June 21, culminating in the celebration of the International Day of Yoga. The chief minister launched the statewide Yoga Practice Campaign at Maharana Pratap Swarn Jayanti Park in Sector 29, Gurugram, and said the initiative would cover districts, sub-divisions, blocks, wards, and gram panchayats across Haryana.

Addressing participants at the event, Saini said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has successfully taken yoga to the global stage, with millions of people around the world now embracing the ancient practice as a way of life. He described yoga as a priceless gift from India's sages and spiritual traditions that has earned widespread respect and recognition across countries and cultures.

According to an official statement, the chief minister said yoga transcends religious and sectarian boundaries and should be viewed as a scientific as well as spiritual heritage for the entire human race. Recalling the origins of the International Day of Yoga, Saini said Prime Minister Modi had proposed the idea at the United Nations in 2014, where it received the support of 177 countries. As a result, the first International Day of Yoga was observed on June 21, 2015, and has since become a global movement promoting health and well-being.

The chief minister said slogans such as "Khelega Bharat To Khilega Bharat" and "Yoga Ki Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz" continue to hold immense relevance in today's fast-paced world. Incorporating yoga into daily life, he said, can help individuals lead healthier, more energetic, and positive lives.

Saini further announced that the Haryana government has decided to celebrate the 12th International Day of Yoga on a large scale throughout the state.
As part of the campaign, yoga camps will be conducted at the district, sub-division, block, ward, and gram panchayat levels between June 1 and June 21. The main state-level programme marking International Yoga Day will be held in Panchkula on June 21.

Highlighting this year's theme, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing", the chief minister noted that while modern lifestyles have brought comfort and convenience, they have also contributed to increasing levels of stress, insomnia, unhealthy dietary habits, and mental health challenges.

He said the state government has adopted the theme "Yoga-Yukt, Nasha-Mukt Haryana" and is committed to encouraging young people to adopt healthier lifestyles through regular yoga practice and greater awareness about physical and mental well-being.

During the event, Dr Jaideep Arya, Chairman of the Haryana Yoga Commission, highlighted the benefits of various yogic practices and guided a mass yoga session. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, along with thousands of yoga enthusiasts and practitioners, participated in the collective exercise programme.
