Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday expressed pride over the upcoming yoga event in Kurukshetra, which will be held under the guidance of renowned yoga guru Baba Ramdev. Calling it a moment of “great fortune,” the Chief Minister urged every household in Kurukshetra to actively participate in the grand event, expected to witness a turnout of lakhs.
Speaking to the media, CM Saini said, “It is a matter of good fortune for all of us that we will do yoga under the guidance of Yog Guru Baba Ramdev in Kurukshetra. I appeal to every household to join the event in large numbers.”
Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing across the country for International Yoga Day, to be celebrated on June 21. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lead the national celebration from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, where a massive yoga session is planned along the 27-kilometre-long coastal road.
In a post on X, PM Modi lauded the initiative #Yogandhra2025, calling it a commendable effort by the people of Andhra Pradesh to promote yoga. “Gladdening to see enthusiasm building up towards Yoga Day 2025. #Yogandhra2025 is a commendable effort by the people of AP to make Yoga popular. I look forward to marking Yoga Day in AP on the 21st,” he posted.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is also expected to join the Prime Minister during the session.
Reflecting on the growth of the event, PM Modi recalled that the first International Yoga Day was held on June 21, 2015, and has since become a global celebration of wellness. He described yoga as “India’s timeless gift to humanity,” emphasising its relevance across generations.
The theme for International Yoga Day 2025 is “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” Major highlights include:
• Coordinated yoga demonstrations at 10,000 locations, aiming for a world record
• Global yoga sessions in partnership with 10 countries at iconic landmarks
• Creation of 1,000 yoga parks to boost community participation
• Special programmes for differently-abled individuals, senior citizens, children, and marginalised groups
• An impact assessment of yoga’s role in public health over the last decade
As the nation gears up for the event, the message from the leadership remains clear: make yoga not just a one-day celebration, but an integral part of everyday life.
