The Haryana Congress on Monday accused the BJP-led state government of failing to use development funds. The party said a large share of money allocated under the district plan remains “unspent.”

Congress General Secretary and MP Randeep Singh Surjewala claimed that around Rs 400 crore meant for development in the state is lying unused, with only Rs 76.33 crore — around 19 per cent of the total allocation — spent so far.

He said more than 80 per cent of the district plan funds have not reached the ground. According to him, this reflects administrative failure rather than any procedural delay.

Sharing district-wise figures, Surjewala said Gurugram was allotted Rs 23.89 crore and Jhajjar Rs 15.12 crore, but no amount was spent in either district. In Yamunanagar, he said Rs 19.15 crore was allocated, out of which only Rs 61,000 was utilised.

The Congress leader criticised Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, alleging that despite repeated claims of good governance and rapid development, the government has failed to release funds even for basic works.

He said development projects are stalled, infrastructure is deteriorating, and job opportunities are being affected because of what he described as poor governance and a lack of accountability.
