Haryana Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur convened a meeting with the high-ranking/senior officers and reviewed the security arrangements being made in the state ahead of the festival season. DGP Kapur directed officers to further strengthen security arrangements.
The meeting with Additional Director Generals of Police, Police Commissioners, Range Inspectors General, and other senior officers of the state was held at Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban in Karnal on Saturday. The meeting included a discussion on action against foreign nationals illegally residing in Haryana, traffic management, and security arrangements.
DGP Kapur ordered all officers to must review cases related to illegally residing foreign nationals every week and ensure strict action is taken against them. He then gave directions to constitute a separate cell in every district for this purpose and instructed that immediate action be taken on received inputs. He also asked officers to send weekly reports on this matter to the Police Headquarters at Panchkula.
In the meeting, Kapur also reviewed the ongoing intensive campaign against those moneylenders who exploit the needy and poor. To this, Sonipat Police Commissioner Mamta Singh informed DGP that the public is fully cooperating with the police and that complaints are being acted upon promptly. DGP then assured that those moneylenders who exploit the helplessness of the poor, charge exorbitant interest, and even seize their property, will not be spared at all.
DGP has given instructions to maintain strict surveillance on the criminals and other anti-social elements, directing all SHOs to personally monitor such persons, hear complaints against them, and ensure tough measures. DGP suggested categorising the criminals into two different groups so that the surveillance and monitoring would be carried out more effectively and promptly..
Giving information on the challans, the Additional Director General of Police (Traffic & Highways) Hardeep Doon said that during a special campaign conducted from September 5 to 14, as many as 30,603 challans were issued. Among these are — drunk driving, noise pollution, and other traffic violations. Besides this, the Haryana police successfully carried out awareness campaigns during the same time period.
The DGP further directed to identify the accident-prone areas and ensure necessary road safety measures are being taken there, and to spread awareness among the public about compliance with lane driving rules.
He said that in large fairs and temples where huge crowds gather, high-quality CCTV cameras must be installed to prevent accidents and criminal incidents. If the crowd exceeds the prescribed limit, entry must be controlled at the main gate itself. Special surveillance must also be maintained on suspicious and anti-social elements, DGP added.
