The Punjab Police apprehended a gangster following a brief exchange of gunfire in Jalandhar on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Hardik Kamboj, sustained a bullet injury to his leg while attempting to evade arrest. He was taken into custody shortly after the encounter.
Kamboj, a resident of Shadipur village in Yamunanagar, is known to be a close associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. According to police sources, the operation was part of an ongoing crackdown on organised crime in the region.
The shootout occurred when a police team arrived at the location for a planned weapon recovery. Upon seeing the officers, Kamboj opened fire in an attempt to escape. In response, the police retaliated, injuring him in the leg before successfully overpowering him.
Kamboj is also a prime suspect in a recent attack involving a grenade being hurled at the residence of YouTuber Navdeep Singh Sandhu, popularly known as Roger Sandhu. The incident, which took place while Sandhu was at home, did not result in any casualties.
The Punjab Police have stated that further investigations are underway to uncover Kamboj's links with criminal networks and to determine his involvement in other criminal activities.
