Amid heightened security concerns following recent cross-border tensions, Haryana has imposed a complete ban on the use of drones and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) across the state until May 25, except for authorised defence and emergency operations.
In an official letter issued on Tuesday, Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department Sumita Misra informed all deputy commissioners, police commissioners, and superintendents of police about the preventive ban aimed at safeguarding sensitive areas and maintaining public safety.
The ban exempts the Indian armed forces, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Haryana Police, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and the State Disaster Response Force. Misra has instructed local police and administrative units to intensify surveillance and report any drone activity immediately.
Misra urged the public to remain alert and promptly report any suspicious aerial objects. She also mentioned that awareness campaigns will be conducted via print and electronic media to ensure public cooperation during this sensitive period.
Government departments that require drone use for official surveys during this ban period must secure prior permission from the respective Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police.
