The brutal murder of Congress worker Himani Narwal has sparked political outrage in Haryana, with senior Congress leaders demanding a swift and impartial investigation, as well as the strictest punishment for those responsible.
Bhupinder Singh Hooda calls for action
Former Haryana Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a painful reflection of the deteriorating law and order in the state.
"Haryana ranks first in the country for crimes against women. This incident underscores the complete breakdown of law and order. The case should be investigated without delay, and the guilty must face the strictest punishment, irrespective of their political affiliations," Hooda stated.
He further confirmed that he had spoken with the police, including the Superintendent of Police (SP), who assured him that they were hopeful of obtaining crucial leads by the evening. Hooda reiterated his demand for an unbiased probe, emphasising that justice must prevail.
Deepender Singh Hooda demands SIT probe
Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda echoed similar concerns, emphasising that the crime had sent shockwaves not just across Haryana but throughout the country.
"This is yet another example of Haryana’s failing law and order. We demand the immediate formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for a high-level probe. The culprits must be identified, and the family of the victim must receive justice. We will fight on every possible front to ensure that no guilty person is spared," he asserted.
Congress leaders call for high-level investigation
Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit backed the Haryana Congress's demand for a high-level inquiry, expressing concerns over possible political interference.
"If there are suspicions of a political angle, the government must take them seriously and ensure a proper police investigation. If the state Congress is demanding a high-level probe, it means there are doubts about the effectiveness of the ongoing investigation," Dikshit said.
Police investigation and findings so far
According to Sampla Police Station SHO Bijendra Singh, initial investigations suggest that Himani Narwal was murdered before her body was placed inside a suitcase and abandoned on the road.
The body has been sent to PGIMS Rohtak for a post-mortem examination, and authorities are working to gather further evidence to bring the perpetrators to justice.
As political leaders continue to demand urgent action, pressure is mounting on the Haryana government to conduct a fair and transparent probe into the shocking crime.
