Haryana medal winners brought pride to nation, says Hooda

He said the results of the sports policy implemented, the sports infrastructure strengthened, and the sports academies established during the Congress government's tenure have transformed Haryana into a sports hub and provided the right direction to the youth.Hooda has urged the government to appoint medal winners to high ranking posts in the Police department.

Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Haryana Bhupinder Singh Hooda has congratulated all medal winners from Haryana


Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda has extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the athletes who won medals at the Commonwealth Games. Asserting  that athletes from Haryana as always have brought glory to the nation, Hooda has urged the government to appoint medal winners to high ranking posts in the Police department.

 

He expressed pride in the fact that the results of the sports policy implemented, the sports infrastructure strengthened, and the sports academies established during the Congress government's tenure, which transformed Haryana into a sports hub and provided the right direction to the youth, are still evident years later.

 

He noted that the BJP government has altered the sports policy formulated by the Congress, thereby depriving athletes of their due rewards, honours, and appointments. “There are many athletes who worked hard to win medals at the international level but failed to secure appointments to high-ranking posts. Furthermore, athletes who were appointed as DSPs during the Congress regime have not even received promotions under the current government,” he added.

 

Hooda stated that all athletes who won medals at the Commonwealth Games should be immediately appointed to high-ranking positions, such as DSP. There should be no lapse whatsoever in honouring and respecting our talented athletes who have brought fame to the country on the global stage.

 

Pertinently, at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026, athletes from Haryana delivered a stellar performance by capturing 11 medals, including seven gold, two silver, and two bronze medals.Commonwealth Games 2026. Haryana's athletes  performed brilliantly, winning a total of 11 medals and bringing pride to the state.

 

Haryana's boxers led the charge with a historic haul of six gold medals and one silver medal.Gold Medallists in Boxing include  Ankush Panghal, Sakshi Chaudhary, Preeti Pawar, Jasmine Lamboria, Priya Gangas, and Sachin Siwach.Silver Medallist winner is  Narendra Berwal.Other Medal Winners include  Sharmila Dhanjhar won gold in Para Shotput, Neeraj Chopra won silver, while Seema Kaliraman, Yashveer Singh, and Seema Sangwan secured bronze medals.

 

Hooda also visited the residence of the late former Vice-Chancellor Vivek Chand Sharma to offer his condolences. On this occasion, he met the family members, offered them solace, and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
