With hundreds of farmers gathering on the Punjab side of the Khanauri border, Jind police have tightened security and sealed the crossing with five-layer barricading ahead of a proposed march to Delhi. Jind Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh confirmed that protesters will not be allowed to cross into Haryana, noting that the participating farmer organisations have not received official permission for the rally. A substantial police presence has been stationed near the Narwana canal bridge, backed by concrete blocks, metal barriers, water cannons, and riot-control vehicles to prevent any attempt to breach the perimeter.
The march is organised by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and led by Jagjit Dallewal. The march aims to reach Jantar Mantar in Delhi by August 29 to protest against a proposed India–US trade agreement alongside several other demands.
As the Khanauri border serves as a vital transport link between Punjab and Haryana, the heavy security measures and movement restrictions are expected to cause significant travel disruption in the region. Local authorities and police forces are keeping the situation under continuous observation, and commuters have been advised to adhere strictly to traffic advisories issued by local administrative bodies.
