Temperatures dropped below 5 degrees Celsius in several parts of Haryana and Punjab on Friday, according to the Meteorological Department.
Sirsa emerged as the coldest place in Haryana, recording a minimum temperature of 4 degrees Celsius. Narnaul also experienced severe cold, with the mercury dipping to 4.5 degrees Celsius.
The Met office said Karnal recorded a low of 5.8 degrees Celsius, while Bhiwani saw 5 degrees, Hisar 5.1 degrees and Rohtak 6 degrees.
Ambala registered a minimum temperature of 6.4 degrees Celsius, while Faridabad recorded 6.8 degrees, it added.
In Punjab, Bathinda was the coldest location, with the temperature settling at 4.4 degrees Celsius. Gurdaspur recorded a low of 4.8 degrees, Amritsar 6.3 degrees, Ludhiana 6.2 degrees and Faridkot 7.6 degrees.
Patiala recorded a minimum temperature of 5.4 degrees Celsius, the weather department said. Chandigarh, the shared capital of Haryana and Punjab, recorded a low of 6.1 degrees Celsius, it added.
