The Haryana government has announced horizontal reservation in direct recruitment for former Agniveers who are residents of the state. A policy has been framed to provide them with opportunities in various government services.
Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi issued a letter detailing the policy. As per the policy guidelines, ex-Agniveers will get 1 per cent horizontal reservation in Group-B posts requiring skill expertise, and 5 per cent in Group-C posts, excluding certain categories.
In the Home Department, 20 per cent of police constable posts will be reserved for them. Similarly, 10 per cent reservation will apply to forest guards in the Environment, Forest and Wildlife Department, warders in the Jail Department, and mining guards in the Mines and Geology Department.
To ensure fair distribution across all social categories, the reservation will be applied through fixed roster points. Selection will remain merit-based, and ex-Agniveers will be recruited against reserved posts within their respective vertical categories, a government spokesperson explained.
If suitable ex-Agniveers are not available, the posts will go to eligible individuals of the category concerned.
The government has also relaxed certain tests for ex-Agniveers during recruitment. For posts like constables, forest guards, warders, and mining guards, they will not have to undergo the Physical Efficiency Test, as their physical fitness and military training are already certified. They are already exempted from the Common Eligibility Test (CET) for Group-C jobs.
In addition, they will not need to take skill-related tests for areas where they already received training in military service. However, they will still have to appear for the written examination conducted by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission for the advertised posts.
