Hamilton Police have issued a missing person alert for Sahil Kumar, who has been untraceable since May 17.

Sahil Kumar, a young student from Haryana’s Charkhi Dadri district, has gone missing in Canada just a month after his arrival on a study visa. With no contact from him since May 17, his distraught family—currently living in Bhiwani—is pleading with the Canadian authorities and the Indian embassy for urgent help in locating him. A missing report has been filed with the Hamilton Police in Canada.

Sahil, a resident of Dohka Hariya village in Charkhi Dadri, left for Canada on April 24 to pursue a web designing course at Humber College in Toronto. He had begun attending classes soon after his arrival. The 22-year-old youth’s family had recently relocated to Nandgaon in Bhiwani. His father, Harish Kumar, is a retired havaldar from the Indian Army.

According to his family, Sahil left his shared accommodation for university on May 17 and has not returned since. His phone has been switched off, and all attempts to reach him have failed. His roommate—who also hails from the same village but studies at another institution—alerted Sahil’s family about his disappearance.

Alarmed by the news, the family began reaching out to the Canadian authorities and the Indian embassy for assistance. Sahil’s friend in Canada has filed a missing person report with the Hamilton Police. In addition, the family has sent an email to the Toronto Police requesting support in locating their son. They are now anxiously waiting for updates and hoping for his safe return.

Sahil’s uncle, Akshay, said the family had spent nearly ₹35–40 lakh to send him abroad, with much of the money coming from his father’s retirement funds and the family’s life savings. “Sahil was a bright student with big dreams. We were so proud of him,” he said.

The disappearance has shattered the family. Sahil’s mother, Sunita Devi, is inconsolable and reportedly in shock. “She cries all day and asks the same thing—where is my Sahil? Please bring him back,” said a family member. Sahil’s younger brother Nilesh is also struggling to cope. Neighbors and relatives have been visiting the family to offer emotional support during this difficult time.

The family remains hopeful that Sahil will be found soon and has asked the Indian and Canadian authorities to intensify efforts in the search.
