Over 20,000 booth-level officers (BLOs) will go door-to-door to verify voter information in Haryana from June 15 to July 14. This exercise is part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in the state. A total of 20,629 BLOs have been appointed to conduct this month-long verification drive across Haryana.
On Wednesday, Haryana Chief Electoral Officer A Sreenivas asked all recognised political parties to appoint booth-level agents (BLAs) in the coming week. He said this is important for pure and accurate electoral rolls. On Thursday, he briefed mediapersons about the exercise. He also said nearly 13,000 BLAs have already been appointed by political parties.
Sreenivas said as of May 12, Haryana had a total of 2,06,63,155 registered voters. He also asked deputy commissioners and district election officers to work with resident welfare associations in cities like Gurugram, Faridabad, Panchkula, and Sonipat. He said BLOs often face entry issues in high-rise residential societies.
He directed that RWAs should be instructed to allow BLOs and BLAs to enter and collect voter details for the SIR process. BLAs are appointed by political parties for specific polling booth areas. They work along with BLOs who are assigned by the election authority.
The CEO said mapping work of electoral rolls in Haryana is 64 percent complete. He said the SIR is a full revision of the voter list. The aim is to include all eligible voters and remove ineligible entries. He also said help desks will be set up at the assembly constituency level and district headquarters. These will assist voters during the SIR process. He added that the last SIR exercise in Haryana was conducted in 2003.
In the third phase of the SIR campaign, July 1 has been fixed as the qualifying date for Haryana. Preparatory work, training, and printing activities will be carried out from June 5 to June 14, 2026. Three rounds of BLO training have already been completed, and another round is planned.
Sreenivas said rationalisation and reorganisation of polling stations will be completed by July 14. Draft electoral rolls will be published on July 21. After this, voters can file claims and objections from July 21 to August 20. Their disposal will continue from July 21 to September 18. The final electoral roll will be published on September 22.
