Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Harvinder Kalyan today said constructing a new Haryana Assembly building will be among his top priorities.

Representing Gharaunda assembly in Karnal district, MLA Kalyan received a rousing welcome on his way from Chandigarh to Karnal.  He was welcomed by BJP leaders and workers at Pipli Parakeet in Kurukshetra.

Former Thanesar MLA Subhash Sudha was also present to welcome him.

Addressing the media, newly elected Haryana Speaker Kalyan said, “I am grateful to all the members of the Haryana Assembly for unanimously electing me as the Speaker. The Assembly is a place where all the elected representatives express their thoughts and raise the demands of their respective areas and public issues.

He added, “As the Speaker of the Assembly, it is my duty to give adequate time to all members so that the issues could be discussed and resolved. A positive atmosphere will be created and it will ensure that the Assembly works smoothly.”

On the demand for a new Assembly building, he said, “In the coming days, a new Assembly building will be the requirement of the state because when delimitation takes place, the number of MLAs and MPs will increase in the state.”

He further added, “While the Central government has already got a new Parliament, Haryana also needs a new Assembly building for which the process has been already initiated. Getting a new Assembly building will be among my top priorities besides the other projects and reforms.”

Kalyan lauded youth and women's representation in the assembly.

He said, “More youth and women representatives being elected in the Assembly is a good beginning for society. The country and the state will move forward in a meaningful direction.”

He added, “Our country is a young nation and the representation of youngsters will benefit everyone. Similarly, an increase in the representation of women in the Assembly will definitely strengthen society.”

Kalyan also said orientation camps and workshops would be organised for the MLAs so that they are fully informed about all the rules and legislative work related to the Assembly.

“Kurukshetra has seen unprecedented development over the past 10 years, Subhash Sudha played an important role in this development. After the BJP came to power, the status of Kurukshetra has increased at the world level. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, all 90 segments of Haryana will witness equal development,” he said.
