The Himachal Pradesh High Court has extended the interim relief granted to former MD of the Power Corporation, Harikesh Meena, in the case linked to the death of Chief Engineer Vimal Negi. The relief will now continue till September 8.
During the hearing, the CBI submitted its status report. Justice Virender Singh listed the case for the next hearing on September 8. Earlier, the court had ordered that no coercive action be taken against Meena until further orders.
Vimal Negi, Chief Engineer of HPPCL, had been missing since March 10. His body was found in Gobindsagar Lake, Bilaspur, on March 18.
Negi’s wife had written to the Chief Minister, alleging that senior officials of HPPCL were harassing her husband. Based on her complaint, an FIR was registered at New Shimla Police Station.
She also claimed that the accused had been pressuring her husband to do wrong activities. To avoid arrest, Meena has sought anticipatory bail from the High Court.
